Murray River

Sunrise on the Murray River

The Murray River is the largest river in Australia over 2,500 kilometers in length.  For many miles it forms the border between New South Wales and Victoria and then the border between South Australia and Victoria down to the sea.  The Murray River is a large powerful river flowing through some of the most rugged outback conditions that Australia has to offer. It is a wild environment and offers plenty of wild fish.

The Murray River offers some of the best coarse fishing for Carp in the world. This claim is not made lightly. Regular catches of over 75 kilos are taken in a six hour match. In general the carp run between 1 kilo and 4 kilo and are wild river fish.

Most of the fishing that we do on the Murray now takes place around the Mildura / Wentworth area. We run the Mildura Masters event at Mildura every year in late October, early November.

Fishing methods on the Murray are either Feeder Fishing or Pole Fishing.  The best bait is generally sweet corn with plenty of groundbait.
